World Congress Special Edition

2014 Montreal IPSA World Congress of Political Science

The Montréal 23rd World Congress of Political Science is fast approaching. We have prepared a busy and exciting program for you, and we hope you are as excited as we are! At any time before and during the Congress, you can obtain live information and join the discussion by using the hashtag #ipsawc on Twitter.

Pre-Congress Activities

A selection of activities will be held on the eve of the official launch of the Congress: on Saturday, July 19, Pre-Congress Sessions will open at 9 a.m. and pre-registration will open at 3 p.m.

The new One Day Research Methods Courses will also be given on the Saturday, with two courses scheduled:

  • Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) and Fuzzy Sets (Instructor: Damien Bol)
  • Process-tracing (PT) Case Study Methodology (Instructor: Derek Beach)

Given by renowned international instructors, these courses offer state-of-the-art information on recent advances in research methods across various fields. They should draw junior and senior scholars with an interest in these fields and recent developments enhancing their respective research networks. Course fees are US$50 and advance registration is required. Register at http://www.ipsa.org/events/congress/montreal2014/one-day-research-methods-courses. Enrollment will be limited to 30 participants per course, so hurry and register now!

World Congress Kickoff

Activities presented as part of the 23rd World Congress of Political Science will begin on Sunday, July 20, with the opening of the exhibitor hall at 10:30 a.m. and the start of panel sessions at 11 a.m.

A full slate of activities will be featured during the five days of the World Congress. Here is the list of main events.

Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony of the World Congress will start at 7:15 p.m. and will showcase the world renowned Cirque du Soleil.

World Congress participants and attendees must show their Congress badge to gain entry into the opening ceremony and the special performance. Registered participants were asked to confirm their attendance in conjunction with their registration. If you have not yet confirmed your attendance, please go to the registration link on your Montréal 2014 webpage to edit your registration details.

The opening ceremony will be followed by a welcome reception.
