Politics, Policy and Diversity in Multi-Level States

Brussels, 22-31 August 2016

The ECPR Standing Group on Regionalism and Federalism is organizing a summer school in Brussels (22-31 August 2016), entitled “Politics, Policy and Diversity in Multi-Level States”, in partnership with Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB) and Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB).

The summer school aims to provide substantive training to Ph.D students in the field of comparative federalism, territorial politics and multi-level governance.  Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the latest research of leading academics and to present their own work to lecturers and to their peers.

The academics that have confirmed their participation include: Nathalie Behnke (University of Konstanz); Dietmar Braun (Université de Lausanne); Jorg Broschek (Wilfried Laurier University); César Colino (UNED); Min Reuchamps (UCL); Arjan Schakel (Maastricht University); Jason Sorens (Dartmouth College); Wilfried Swenden (University of Edinburgh); Simona Piattoni (Università di Trento); Lori Thorlakson (University of Alberta).

The summer school also offers professional development workshops on research funding and career opportunities in academia, and guided tours of the political institutions present in Brussels, active in the multi-level governance of Europe, such as the EU Commission, the Committee of the Regions, and the Brussels Regional Government.
