We are excited to announce that the preliminary schedule for the 2023 IPSA World Congress is now online! Please note that the schedule is subject to change. We encourage you to visit the Congress website to stay updated. Each individual is responsible for ensuring that they are available for the duration of the Congress, which runs from 15-19 July 2023.

NOMINATE YOUR CANDIDATE FOR THE WILMA RULE AWARD
Deadline: 1 July 2023
 
IPSA’s Wilma Rule Award for Best Research on Gender and Politics will be presented at the 2023 IPSA World Congress in Buenos Aires. All RCs, but specifically RC07 and RC19, as well as panel chairs and convenors of sessions at the IPSA World Congress, are invited to submit nominations by 1 July. Nominations will not be accepted after that date, and earlier submissions will ensure more thorough consideration.
 
Please note that the full paper must be uploaded to the Congress website by 1 July in order to be nominated.
 
FIONA FEIANG SHEN-BAYH NAMED THE RECIPIENT OF THE 2023
APSA-IPSA THEODORE J. LOWI FIRST BOOK AWARD
 
The 2023 APSA-IPSA Theodore J. Lowi First Book Award has been awarded to Fiona Feiang Shen-Bayh for her first book, entitled Undue Process: Persecution and Punishment in Autocratic Courts, published by Cambridge University Press in 2022. Prof. Shen-Bayh is an Assistant Professor of political science at the College of William & Mary. She also serves as a faculty affiliate of the Global Research Institute and the Data Science program. Her research interests include authoritarian regimes, specifically legal and judicial instruments of power, and the challenges of promoting access to equitable justice.
 
 
IPSA PRESIDENT-ELECT PABLO OÑATE STRENGTHENS COLLABORATIONS 
DURING VISITS TO CANADA 
 
IPSA President-elect Pablo Oñate and Executive Director Kim Fontaine-Skronski conducted fruitful visits to academic and governmental organizations in Montreal and Ottawa from 15-19 May. The IPSA delegation met with key stakeholders, including the Quebec Ministry of International Relations and La Francophonie, Graham Carr (President and Vice-Chancellor of Concordia University), Daniel Salée (Interim Chair of Concordia’s Department of Political Science), Oumar Diallo (Director of the Office of International Relations, City of Montreal), Norbert Eschborn (Director of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Canada), Daniel Stockemer (IPSR Co-editor) as well as representatives from the University of Ottawa and the Canadian Political Science Association.
 
IPSA’S PRESENCE AT ISC’S MID-TERM MEETING
 AMPLIFIES THE VOICE OF THE POLITICAL SCIENCE COMMUNITY
 
IPSA President-Elect Pablo Oñate and Executive Director Kim Fontaine-Skronski attended the 2023 Mid-term Meeting of the International Science Council (ISC) in Paris from 10-12 May 2023. Held under the theme Capitalizing on Synergies in Science, ISC’s first in-person networking event since 2019 brought together more than 300 delegates representing the global scientific community. The IPSA delegation participated in various sessions and meetings during the three-day event. Their main objectives were to represent the political science community in the ISC discussions, to meet with ISC’s leadership, and to network with international scholarly associations, national science academies and research councils as well as international institutes and youth organizations.
 
 
IPSA-LASA COLLABORATION:
IPSA PRESENT AT THE 2023 LASA CONGRESS
 
IPSA was present at the Latin American Studies Association’s (LASA) 2023 Congress, held virtually and in-person in Vancouver, Canada, from 24-27 May 2023. Executive Committee member Azul A. Aguiar Aguilar represented IPSA and chaired the panel on Democracy, Judicial Institutions, and Organized Crime in Latin America on 26 May. IPSA had a virtual exhibition booth at the event to inform LASA delegates about IPSA activities, recent publications, and the 2023 IPSA World Congress of Political Science in Buenos Aires.
 
IPSA AT THE 7th JOURNÉE DES ORGANISATIONS INTERNATIONALES 
 
IPSA President-Elect Pablo Oñate and Executive Director Kim Fontaine-Skronski participated in the 7th Journée des organisations internationales organized by Connexion internationale de Montréal (CIMtl) on 18 May 2023. Dr. Fontaine-Skronski spoke on the panel “Education and Francophonie”, which focused on IPSA’s mission and activities in promoting education at the international level as well as the role of the French language at the heart of academic research, highlighting its importance in political science.
