Don't miss your chance to participate in the #IPSA2025 World Congress in Seoul!  All participants, including session chairs, panel chairs, discussants and paper givers, must register to attend the Congress. All Congress participants must be 2025 individual IPSA members to register for the Congress. Participants who do not complete their registration by 8 May will be withdrawn from the Congress program.

Two short Research Methods Courses are offered in conjunction with the IPSA World Congress on 12 July 2025. Given by renowned international instructors, these in-person courses offer state-of-the-art information about recent advances in research methods across various fields. Advance registration is required as places are limited.

The 147th IPSA Executive Committee (EC) Meeting was held in Naples, Italy, from 12-13 April 2025. The meeting was hosted by Federica Web Learning at the University of Naples Federico II. IPSA extends its sincere gratitude to Federica Web Learning, the University of Naples Federico II, and Professor Mauro Calise and his team for their support and warm hospitality. The EC meeting in Naples also offered an opportunity for IPSA President-Elect Yuko Kasuya and the IPSA Secretariat to conduct a series of meetings and site visits in preparation for the 29th IPSA World Congress, to be held in Rome in July 2027.

The IPSA Executive Committee (EC) welcomes Fortunato Musella, Full Professor of Political Science at the University of Naples Federico II and Director of Federica Web Learning, as an ex-officio EC member following the Committee's approval of his nomination at its 147th meeting held in Naples, Italy, on 12-13 April 2024. Prof. Musella will serve as Co-Coordinator of IPSAMOOCs alongside Prof. Mauro Calise, who has led this initiative since its inception in 2014.

IPSA is calling for applications for the position of Summer School Coordinator. The Summer School Coordinator will be appointed for a term of two years (renewable) at the first meeting of the 28th IPSA Executive Committee following the IPSA World Congress of Political Science, which will be held on 16 July 2025, in Seoul, South Korea.

Nominations are now open for the Wilma Rule Award on Gender and Politics, which will be presented at the 2025 IPSA World Congress in Seoul. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding research on gender and politics. IPSA Research Committees (RCs), especially RC07 - Women and Politics in the Global South and RC19 - Gender Politics and Policy, as well as panel convenors and chairs at the 2025 IPSA World Congress are invited to submit nominations by 20 June 2025.

RECIPIENTS OF 2025 IPSA AWARDS

Hilde Coffé and Marion Reiser have been named the winners of the 2025 Meisel-Laponce Award for best article in IPSR for their article titled How perceptions and information about women's descriptive representation affect support for positive action measures. The authors will deliver an award lecture during the Meisel-Laponce Award Session at the 2025 IPSA World Congress in Seoul on 15 July.

Zaynab El Bernoussi has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Global South Award. El Bernoussi, Associate Professor of Political Science at the Africa Institute, will deliver an award lecture titled From the Global South to the World: Tracking Dignity Demands and the International Political Economy at the 2025 IPSA World Congress of Political Science in Seoul on 15 July.

Daniel Tjarks, a PhD candidate at the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Lisbon, has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Stein Rokkan Travel Grant Award. The IPSA Committee on Organization, Procedures, and Awards (COPA) Chair, Serge Granger, will present the award at the Closing Ceremony of the 2025 IPSA World Congress in Seoul on 16 July.

Join the IPSA-Concordia Summer Institute in Applied Diplomacy, held at Concordia University in Montréal, Canada, from 18-28 August 2025. This exciting program, hosted at Concordia University, in the heart of Montréal, offers a mixture of theoretical and applied sessions on all aspects of diplomacy as well as a hands-on Diplomacy Lab and the opportunity to interact with some of the world's leading experts on diplomacy from academic and policy backgrounds. The Institute is open to local and international students or young professionals for either credit or non-credit options.

IPSA and Antalya Bilim University (ABU) will jointly present the 6th IPSA-ABU Summer School for Social Science Research Methods, which will be held from 25 August- 5 September 2025. The School offers advanced training for graduate students and academics intent on strengthening their methodological skills. It is also an excellent opportunity for participants to expand their methodological knowledge, discuss research, and forge new collaborations.
