Post-Doctoral Fellow: Democratic Innovations

The Department of Political Science and Centre for the Study of Democratic Institutions at the University of British Columbia seeks to appoint a Post-Doctoral Fellow for a two year period, with a starting date between April 1, 2013 and August 31, 2013. Field of specialization is open, but candidates should have a demonstrated interest in democratic innovations. The Post-Doctoral Fellow’s primary responsibility, estimated at approximately half-time, will be to help an international team develop a project entitled Participedia (www.participedia.net), the purpose of which is to develop an internet platform to collect data and descriptions of new participatory processes and related democratic innovations. Responsibilities include content development, developing the website’s data collection capacities, testing the reliability and validity of data collected through the website, and website management. Experience with survey research and comfort with website management is desirable. Salary is $50,000/year plus benefits.
