The study of political career became the first pillar of elite studies in political science. A great majority of research take point about several steps of parliamentary or ministerial elite in the search of patterns. Two visions are identified, a static vision focusing in first positions before Upper house with a strong perspective of selection and recruitment processes. A second vision more dynamic studied term and length of each position of politician. Despite the considerable number of studies the movement patterns in political career, scholars emphasize the role of political parties as a main variable, in some case namely “the secret garden of politics” (Gallagher and Marsh, 1988). This “black box” is still an unresolved question. This paper seeks to better understand the role of political parties in the political career of Spanish MPs. The main goal is determining that to be members of youth wings is important in career success and in career start. I evaluate with a complete data set of Spanish MPs after the dictatorship (1977-2011) the importance of passage inside youth wings and measure the impact of youth sections political parties on the political career.
