This paper presents some of the results produced within the COST Action ‘Professionalization and Social Impact of European Political Science’ (PROSEPS). The Action aims at assessing the situation of the academic political science profession in our continent, focusing on three main areas of interest: 1) The evolution of the institutional position of the discipline in the previous 20 years across the different European countries; 2) A broad analysis of the social impact of the discipline, considering both the public dimension (public visibility of political science and involvement of political scientists in the public debate) and the role in the political and policy process (advisory role of political scientists); and 3) an assessment of the impact that the processes of internationalization of higher education and research have had on the development of the discipline and professional careers. In this paper, we address these concerns by presenting some results obtained through the PROSEPS survey. This survey was carried out in 2018 among academic political scientists in 39 countries (37 European plus Turkey and Israel).
